Fleet Week 2019 Ready for Take-off from Oakland International

OAK is Bay Area Home for the Blue Angels Beginning Sunday

Oakland, CA (October 1, 2019): Oakland International Airport (OAK) welcomes the return of the Blue Angels this weekend. OAK will serve as the Navy flyers home base for SF Fleet Week 2019. It is the sixth consecutive year the precision Navy flyers will make Oakland their home on the road. The Blue Angels team includes 16 volunteer officers and six F/A-18 jets used during the aerobatic demonstrations.

Bay Area beginning Sunday, October 6, through Monday, October 14, 2019.

The Blue Angels will arrive at OAK on Sunday, October 6, at 6:00 p.m. and follow the Key Flight Activity schedule below until their departure on Monday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m.  All times are approximate and subject to weather and other changes. During practice sessions and air show demonstrations, Airport neighbors may experience an unusual level of aircraft activity and noise.

KEY FLIGHT ACTIVITY TIMES

The planned schedule for flights is as follows (subject to change):

  • Sunday, October 6, 6:00 p.m. Blue Angels arrival (North Field)
  • Monday, October 7, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Media flights (South Field)
  • Thursday, October 10, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Airshow practice (North Field)
  • Friday, October 11, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Airshow flights (North Field)
  • Saturday, October 12, 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Airshow flights (North Field)
  • Sunday, October 13, 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Airshow flights (North Field)
  • Monday, October 14, 10:00 a.m. Blue Angels departure (North Field)

OAK COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Airport’s outreach efforts are part of an established Noise Abatement Program that works with surrounding communities on noise concerns related to operations at OAK. This is done in addition to efforts such as monitoring aircraft activities and educating pilots and air traffic controllers on noise procedures.
